Frequently Asked Questions

Who is eligible to volunteer with Camp Horizon?

We’re looking for volunteers ages 18+ who are wanting to give back to their community. We welcome volunteers from all backgrounds and are committed to creating a welcoming and diverse community of support for our young people.

What do Camp Horizon volunteers do?

There are a variety of roles available for volunteers including teaching life skills workshops, preparing materials for events and programs, volunteering for the week of summer camp as a counselor or program facilitator, or leading activities or chaperoning at outings and events. We’re happy to highlight the strengths and interests of volunteers - let us know how you would like to be involved and we can discuss options!

What is required to volunteer?

In order to volunteer with us, we require attendance at a virtual orientation. In order to participate in programs with youth present we require all volunteers to pass a background check. Tier 3 volunteers (summer camp volunteers and mentors) undergo additional trauma-informed training and screening.

Can I bring a friend with me to volunteer at an event?

We love when volunteers recruit their friends! All volunteers attending programs must undergo the onboarding process. We welcome new volunteers to sign up on this webpage to learn more about how to get involved with Camp Horizon.
